چکیده

This work addresses the treatment of a complex industrial effluent containing high concentrations metals and spiked with two organic solvents (diethylketone – DEK, methyl ethyl ketone - MEK) using an eco-friendly approach. The system herein proposed consists bio-barrier that combines adsorption capacity sepiolite properties Streptococcus equisimilis biofilm proven ability in degradation bioremoval wide range pollutants. Results from open-systems experiments conducted raw exposed to binary mixture DEK MEK revealed preference sorbent towards DEK. results biodegradation also S. degrade/bioremove over independently their initial concentration (100 mg/L 3200 mg/L). Bioremoval percentages higher than 95% were reached for all tested. lab-scale open-system covered biofilm, pilot-scale experiment closed-loop, similar performances on rehabilitation heavy additionally MEK. Regarding selectivity different pollutants, Cu was preferentially removed Cr Ni, presence allowed improvement removal metals, particularly Cr, besides preventing leaching Al, Fe, Mg structure, extremely important advantage comparison without biofilm. EDS analyses performed samples several (Cr, Ni), proving thus occurrence sorption processes by breakthrough data obtained properly described Dose Response Yoon Nelson mathematical models. More research needs be effluents aiming optimization systems applied real context scenarios.

Lab scale experiments for permeable reactive barriers against contaminated groundwater with ammonium and heavy metals using clinoptilolite (01-29B).

Batch tests and column tests were performed to determine the design factors for permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) against the contaminated groundwater by ammonium and heavy metals. Clinoptilolite, one of the natural zeolites having excellent cation exchange capacity (CEC), was chosen as the reactive material. In the batch tests, the reactivity of clinoptilolite to ammonium, lead, and copper wa...

Treatment of small scale gold mining wastewater using pilot-scale sedimentation and Cocopeat filter bed system

The use of amalgamation process to recover gold from mined ores by the small-scale gold miners in the Philippines and other developing countries produces and dispose of untreated wastewater to the receiving water bodies. In this study, a field-scale filter bed system was constructed to treat heavy metal metal-laden wastewater collected from small-scale gold mining site in Paracale, Camarines No...

Treatment of Dairy Wastewater Using Pilot Scale Tricking Filter

A pilot scale trickling filter and secondary sedimentation are used to evaluate the feasibility of this process for the treatment of raw dairy waste. The BOD in the raw waste of 252 to 1200 mg/l is reduced 50-73% by a single stage and a further 17-55% by sedimentation tank. Treatment efficiencies are determined at various waste strengths and influent flow rates. With a loading rate of 5-12 kg B...

Removal of Heavy Metals from Industrial Wastewater Using Rice Husks

Heavy metals are widely used in textile industries and significant losses occur during the manufacture and processing of textiles, and these lost heavy metals are discharged in the effluent. Adsorption of heavy metals is a new technology for treatment of wastewater containing different types of selected heavy metals. In this study, adsorbents Carbonized Rice Husk (CRH) and Activated Rice Husk (...

Electrokinetic enhancement removal of heavy metals from industrial wastewater sludge.

An enhanced electrokinetic process for removal of metals (Cr, Cu, Fe, Ni, Pb, Zn) from an industrial wastewater sludge was performed. The electrokinetic experiments were conducted under a constant potential gradient (1.25 V cm(-1)) with processing fluids of tap water (TW), sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and citric acid (CA) for 5 days. Results showed that metal removal efficiency of heavy metals f...
